Supply List for Unified Geometry

Please purchase scientific calculator for testing and class, compass, protractor, ruler, and grid paper. Students need these items daily in Geometry. Graphing calculators are not required or needed.

Classroom set of dry-erase markers is vanishing, please purchase your own markers for next semester.

Midterms and chages due to Weather Day

Monday
Algebra 2/Trig, midterm covers chapters 1,2,3, 5 and 6. work on Chapter Reviews in your text or on line. Test will be multiple choice and short answer. Good luck on your studying.
Project due last week may be turned in on Exam day. Chapter 6 Test will be postponed until next quarter due to weather day.


Unified Geometry students should prepare for test by completing chapter Reviews for chapter's 1-6, You can use your text or on-line. Your tests covers the first six chapters through lesson 6.5. Quad project part II  will be due the first meeting in January due to weather day.
Your exam is multiple choice.

 

SMALL WORLD, Isn't It?

Small World presentations were awesome today Precalculus. Thanks to all your hard work, and especially all your critical thinking. I am very pleased.
Please work on Review assignmnets for Chapter 3. I will go over the first half or so on Friday. Chapter 3 Test will be next Wednesday.

Tests and Deadlines

Algebra 1 will have their Chapter 7 test on Wednesday.
Algebra 2/Trig  and Connections Portfolios on FireWorks is due on Thursday, and Quadratics test is on Monday, November 22, 2010.

Tutoring

Tutoring is available for all students on Monday after school until 4 PM and for Calculus students until 5PM.

Calculus students who are having difficulty with homework assignments should make plans to stay after on Mondays and make appointments for other days as needed. I will make appointments with students who attend the Monday sessions only.

Geometry, Algebra, and Algebra 2/ Trig students should watch videos and use on-line calculators linked to this page.

Supplies

All students need to bring graph paper, paper, and pencils to school each day. Geometry students need a ruler, compass, protracter in class everyday.

Make-up Day for Quarter 2

All Make-up tests for Quarter 2 will be given on December 17, 2010 after school. Please keep this date open.

Quarter 2

Tutoring sessions are very poorly attended. On average one student per week shows up. If you are struggling please make arrangements to stay after school and get some help. I tutor Mondays, Mrs Buxton tutors Wednesday.

Precal test is next Tuesday, October 26, Portfolio is due Friday, October 22.
Calculus Test is next Tuesday, October 26.

Last Week of the Quarter

I hope you all had a restful break and are ready to finish the quarter. Remember that make-up day is October 15. If you have missing test grades you must make plans to take the make-up. If you elect to miss the make-up you will get a zero for mssing work. 

Make--up tests

The last day of the quarter is October 15, 2010.
Students who have missed a test this quarter will have the opportunity to make up missing test grades by taking the cumulative quarter test on Friday, October 15, 2010 in room 231. All missing test grades after October 15, will be recorded as a zero.  Any student who wishes to improve their average and who is not missing any test grades may take this test to improve their grade.  I hope students who are unhappy with their grade will use this time to prepare by studying, coming to tutoring, and using the on-line resources available and linked to this page. Please let me know if you plan to take this test, so that I will make enough copies. I will let students know the week of October 11, 2010 who must take this test. Please make plans to provide transportation for your child no later than 4:30 PM.

Factoring on Fridays

Any NCTHS student who has not mastered factoring is not only invited but is strongly encouraged to come to Factoring on Fridays in Room 231 from 3:15 until 4:00. Factoring Fridays will be September 17 and September 24.

Tutoring

Just a reminder, I tutor on Monday after school until 4PM in 231, Mrs. Buxton will be tutoring Wednesday. All NCTHS students are welcome.

Make up Test Day is on Friday, October 1, 2010. All Tests missed this quarter must be made-up at that time. If you have not missed any tests you may use the make-up as an opportunity to improve your grade. Please utilize tutoring opportunities to master content.

Algebra students need to stay after school on Monday to retake 2.2 Writing equations of lines if they do not have at least 90% on the quiz.

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be given to all students this week.

Please send a note indicating you have seen the progress report for homework grade in math, Thursday or Friday.

Algebra Advanced students may download games from Dimension U or bring in 2 gb thumb drive to copy games in class. Students need their login and password to download the games from the web site. All Algebra Advanced students should complete the Instructional module for the Way Out with 80% or better before playing the game. You may play game as often as you like at home.

The fourth week of school

Study for Chapter 1 tests in Geomety, Precalculus and Calculus.  I will be available after school Monday for  tutoring.

Progress reports will go home next week.

Assignments for the First Week of School.

As always it is difficult to predict assignments the first week of school. I will assess each of you this week and adjust the assignments to meet your needs. I am looking forward to starting the school year. I will link weekly assignments to my ALEX page and you will find pertinent information on my Global Classroom. I will give you the password and course name on the first day of school. I will update my syllabus there and you will be able to link to other resources.
